Craft Closet Makeover

I have been a lifelong craft enthusiast and quarantine has given me more time than ever to craft. I was lucky enough to grow up with a mom who taught me how to sew and who ran our Girl Scout troop. Our grandmother also sews and knits… and if you’ve read any other posts is this blog it clearly runs in the family. I decided to paint our downstairs bedroom and in the process I added a craft closet. I took off the sliding doors and painted the interior to make myself a cozy space to craft this winter.

This is the before. Yuck.

Prepping the walls was key due to the wood paneling. Step one was to wash the walls with TSP. Step two was sanding the walls thoroughly. Next I wiped down all the walls with a damp rag. Then I was ready to paint!

I used Benjamin Moore aura paint to cover the wood. Every surface needed three coats and prior to painting the walls were washed with TSP. I used the color snowball white in an eggshell finish for the walls. The trim is simply white in a semi gloss finish.

Here is the finished product!

The table lamp is a task light from the dollar store and the cart is from ikea. I’m much more productive having all my craft supplies in the same place and I’m looking forward to future projects 🙂
