I’ve recently started making my own lattes at home. My espresso machine DOES have the steam shoot on the side to froth the milk, but I cannot get it right for the life of me. I still want that fluffiness with my espresso that all latte lovers crave, and luckily there is an alternative to froth your milk with a French Press for those of us who are not quite at barista level. Here’s how you can quickly, easily, and consistently make great lattes at home in just a few steps!
What you’ll need:
- Espresso Machine & Espresso Grounds
- French Press
- Plant Beverage or Milk of Choice
- Any Flavors or Add-Ins
Step 1: Make your espresso
Step 2: Heat up your milk or plant-based beverage.
My personal favorite is oat milk and from all the ones ive tried – oat, almond, soy, and coconut – it froths up the best
Step 3: Pour the heated drink into the French press filling it up about 1/3 to halfway up the French press.
Step 4: Dip the plunger (spiral plate, filter screen, and cross plate) from the top of the liquid all the way to the bottom of the press repeatedly until the liquid froths to the top of the French press.
Step 5: Pour frothed milk into cup, top with espresso, add in any extra flavors or sweeteners, and enjoy!
Here are all the steps in this video! Feel free to give it a try, leave a comment and let me know how your at-home latte turned out!
